Elven Highborn

Recommended Lineage. Half Elf or Bugbear

Born to or adopted by High Elves, you were raised as one of their own. Despite your differences, you were expected to keep up and make your family proud. You quickly learned that your differences were a taboo generally only acknowledged through euphemisms and insults from cruel children.

Despite the challenges growing up, you learned to wield blade and spell nearly as well as any high elf. You gain the high Elf’s Elven Weapon Training and the Eldritch Adept feat.

Suggested Attribute Boosts.

  • Dexterity
  • Brilliance, Instinct, or Presence

Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with a single one-handed sword (usually the saber or rapier). You can use this weapon as a spellcasting focus.

Feats. Eldritch Adept or Fencer

Eldritch Adept

Benefit. You learn one spell from the eldritch spell list. You can cast it as a cantrip at will or as a 1st-level spell without expending a spell slot. Once you cast this spell without expending a spell slot, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest. Choose Brilliance, Instinct, or Presence as your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Fighting Style: Fencing

Benefit. You treat canes and one-handed swords as finesse weapons. and you can adopt the Fencer’s Stance, which requires you to be wielding a cane or one-handed weapon. While the stance is active and you are targeted by a melee attack that would hit you, use a reaction to add your dexterity score to your evasion against the triggering attack.
