Aurochs

An aurochs is a large long-lived bovine native to Tera Mundus. They have massive horns and till fields in communities that have yet to embrace the technological revolution.

Golden Aurochs

Considered the king of domestic beasts, these massive creatures boast shimmering golden hair and pale ivory horns. Those who own herds of golden aurochs often treat them notably better than their workers. While owning even one golden aurochs is incredibly prestigious, high society considers owning a golden aurochs missing one or more horns as crass.

Common Aurochs

Terra mundus boasts countless breeds of domestic aurochs with wildly varied appearances. Most rural families have an aurochs or two of indiscernible breed. Middle and upper-class owners tend own aurochs with documented pedigree.

Blue Aurochs

The smallest of their kin, blue aurochs are kept almost exclusively by clans of lumber dwarves. The dwarves often treat these creatures as favored pets, but herds are not uncommon. Blue Aurochs milk tastes particularly sweet and pervades lumber dwarf recipes. While refusing magical scrutiny on the matter, their dwarves insist that the blue aurochs have a natural connection to elemental ice. Blue aurochs undoubtedly whether freezing temperatures with ease. The milk also supposedly chills faster than that of other aurochs. Each lumber-dwarf clan believes that they know the definitive legend about how the aurochs gained this connection, but few can agree on many details.

Too small for riding, teams of blue aurochs do occasionally pull sleds.
